Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (The Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt in the 2nd Century BC.
Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days on the 25th day of Kislev, according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December on the Gregorian calendar.
The festival is observed by the kindling of the lights on a unique nine-branched Menorah, one light each night of the holiday, progressing to eight on the final night.
The additional ninth light is given a distinct location that is usually above or below the rest. It's purpose is to have a light available for use, as using the Hanukkah lights themselves is forbidden.
The Hebrew word Hanukkah means "dedication." When the sacred temple Menorah (candelabra) was relit, there was only enough sacred oil to burn for one day. Yet, according to tradition, the oil miraculously lasted eight days until more purified oil could be found.
This download includes a printable PDF catalog page, a catalog page jpg for advertising, and one sheet of 19 Hanukkah-themed vector art designs ready to ungroup and use has needed. Perfect for single layered vinyl cuts and multi-colored vinyl designs. Enjoy!
