"Why is the high tack clear transfer tape taking paint off my walls?"
First of all, we do not recommend using any kind of clear transfer tape. Either it doesn't pull the vinyl off its backing or it doesn't allow it transfer well to the wall. We recommend using the opaque Transfer Rite Ultra (high tack) or the R Tape Conform 4075 RLA transfer tapes because both perform exceptionally well. These transfer tapes are available through most vinyl distributors, including Regional Supply in SLC, UT at 1-800-365-8920.
If a wall is being really stingy about sticking, you can use Oracal 651 vinyl, but it will cost a little more and have a little shine to it. Or you can use a heat gun or embossing gun on the lettering once it has been applied. Just go along the letters and heat them up a little (not too much or they will melt) but enough to activate the adhesive on back and then press the letters into the wall. Once cooled, the letters stick to even the most difficult walls.
